The Fab Collab I’m doing this week with the beautiful ladies of JTouchofStyle.com is all about memories centered on an ageless piece of jewelry: the pearl necklace. There are four generations in this Fab Collab. Each of us has our own unique relationship to pearls, so we’re all taking turns to tell our stories and show how we style them.

Today, I invite you to take a look at Nancy’s story. She shows how she styles her necklace at 60-plus. The story behind her necklace carries memories of her wedding, how her mother might have influenced her view on such “extravagant things,” and how Jodie, her step-daughter, has helped her incorporate new ideas into her style, including how she chose to style her pearls today.

Below is an excerpt from her story. To read more, click here.

The Pearl Necklace Styled by Nancy

When I think of pearls, I think of elegance. I have to admit, I don’t wear pearls very often, however, I did wear pearl earrings and a pearl bracelet for the most elegant event of my life—my wedding. That was a day I especially wanted to look beautiful for my husband to be!

I’ve noticed after reviewing pictures from the past that I also have worn pearl jewelry to other people’s weddings.

The reason I don’t wear them much might be because my mother didn’t wear pearls very much. She really didn’t wear any jewelry and when she did it was just costume jewelry. My parents came from tough times and didn’t spend money on what they considered extravagant things.
