The Fab Collab I’m doing this week with the beautiful ladies of JTouchofStyle.com is all about memories centered on an ageless piece of jewelry: the pearl necklace. There are four generations in this Fab Collab. Each of us has our own unique relationship to pearls, so we’re all taking turns to tell our stories and show how we style them.

On Monday, I shared my connection to a pearl necklace gifted to my mom from my great-grandmother and I showed how I style it at 40-plus. Jodie was next on the roster, sharing her bittersweet connection to her necklace and styling for 50-plus. Nancy demonstrated a necklace styled for 60-plus and told her own personal story related to pearls.

Today, I invite you to take a look at Charlotte’s story. She shows how she styles her necklace at 70-plus. The story behind her necklace carries memories of her wedding and connects to her daughter, Jodie from our 50-plus story, in a very special way.

Below is an excerpt from her story. To read more, click here.

The Pearl Necklace Styled by Charlotte

This graduated pearl necklace was a wedding gift from my husband to be in 1960. Of course the only reason he bought it was because his mother told him it was the tradition to buy the bride a wedding gift (we were so inexperienced in these matters, and there was no internet to turn to).

At that time, all of the pearl necklaces were opera length which was about 24” long or mid chest. However, I wanted it to lay at the base of my neck so I decided to have it shortened. The leftover pearls were then saved for many years. Finally, when my daughter, Jodie, was confirmed, I had them put on a gold chain as her present.
