Feel-Good Fabulousness at Sell Your Sole Consignment

Yesterday’s post featured many of the surprising fashion gems Amy from Sassafras and I uncovered at the Federal Army Navy Surplus store in Seattle.

It came as less of a surprise that a boutique shop like Sell Your Sole Consignment has all kinds of gems lining the walls. The surprise here is when I looked at the price tags. Designer names–like Gucci, Chanel, and Christian Louboutin–all marked down to more attainable levels.

How does the owner, Natalia, do it?

Natalia’s store is a consignment store, which means all the pieces in her shop–with the exception of some of the jewelry–are preowned. Natalia is fierce in her standards for quality. She only accepts designer brands and only if they appear new. Then she passes along major discounts to her customers while also providing her consignees with half (or more of) the profit.

For more information about consigning your items with Natalia, visit her website or pop in and say hello. She’s happy to answer any questions.

Natalia isn’t the only fierce one in this article. Check out Amy in her bodycon dress and fabulous Chanel oxfords. Notice how sparkly her eyes are. This is what designer fashion does–it makes the eyes sparkle.

Sustainable Fabulousness

The fashion industry is notorious for its waste and pollution. Sell Your Sole helps balance things out a little. Here’s how: when I shop there, no additional waste is created to make me a new dress and these gorgeous clothes get a new lease on life rather than ending up in a landfill.

Can you imagine this dress in the landfill???
Me either!

Amy and I found all sorts of reasons to “do our part” for the economy and the earth at Sell Your Sole. This jacket, for instance. The embroidery was so intricate and stunning it made me a little lightheaded. Can you tell I felt radiant wearing it?

Everybody Shop Now

This time of year is prime time for finding those special holiday outfits, warm sweaters and coats, and gifts for others. It might even be fun to make an event out of it. If you’ve got a group of friends you like to shop with, Sell Your Sole offers shopping parties. They roll out the red carpet and champagne for you and all your fashionista amigas.

Make it a fundraising event and Sell Your Sole will donate 10% of the evening’s proceeds to the organization of your choice.

Amy and I had our own little shopping party sans champagne. We didn’t need the champagne, though. We were bubbly all on our own wearing these gorgeous clothes. I just love how Amy styled her sweater dress with a wide belt, Hollywood sunglasses, and those rockin’ Chanel oxfords.

A Wall of Shoes

Natalia features all the greats when it comes to designer fashion. For example, the dress I wore in the photo below is Gucci. But her inventory isn’t limited to just clothing. She has a wide selection of designer brand shoes as well.

And when I say wide selection, I mean an entire wall of shoes! Plus, a staircase and other parts of her store lined with them.

Personal Stylist

Natalia is the only consignment shop in town offering the services of a personal stylist. Call her up and make an appointment with Nicole and go have fun!

Left to her own devices, Amy is a grand stylist in her own right. Check out the outfit she put together above. Those Chanel shoes make another appearance, along with a Chanel jacket, some fabulous jeans (which she purchased), and blue handbag.

Gifts Ideas

I’ll be honest. When we visited Sell Your Sole it was hard to concentrate on gift-buying for others. I wanted everything for myself. (ha ha.) Looking back on these photos, though, I see loads of ideas, especially when it comes to the selection of jewelry and accessories Natalia offers.

Sell Your Sole has designer name consignment jewelry and accessories along with a nice selection of locally designed and handmade jewelry. In fact, on November 25, Sell Your Sole is having a Small Business Saturday Trunk Show featuring all Seattle Indie Designers. For more about that show, visit their Facebook page.

Giving Back

Natalia’s focus on making the world a better place isn’t just focused on sustainable fashion. She looks closer to home to seek ways of having a positive impact on her local community. To do that, she has partnered up with the other Indies on 1st, along with another nearby shop or two, to create Belltown Unites. Their goal is to play a vital role in the improvement of Seattle’s landscape.

Most recently, Belltown Unites has come together to create a donation campaign for the homeless in our city. There are nearly 6,000 people in Seattle who sleep on the streets every night. It gets cold out there this time of year.

‘Belltown Unites’ Brings Warmth to the Homeless

Beginning November 25 and going through January 25, Belltown Unites will work with Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission to provide hats and scarves to all of these homeless neighbors. For every $100 spent at Sell Your Sole, they’ll donate a hat and scarf to the Union Gospel Mission who will make sure a person sleeping on the streets receives them.

There are also other ways to contribute to this cause. I’ll write more in the days to come but if you have questions about how to help through Sell Your Sole, contact Natalia at the number or email address below.

Sell Your Sole is located at 2121 1st Ave #101, Seattle. Visit their website for more information or call Natalia at 206-443-2616 to set up a private stylist appointment with Nicole. You can also book a shopping party with your favorite shopping buddies. Some items are available through their eBay store and gift certificates are available as well.

  6. That red dress is stunning on you, Sherry. Wow!
We need stores like this. There is just so much waste. I try as much as possible to recycle, donate, sell, anything not to go into landfill. And some of my most treasured garments are second hand ones.
I would be like a kid in a candy store in that shop! Bravo to Natalia!

  7. Another stellar post, Sherry. How on earth did you decide what to buy? Or, you bought them all!?!! Hahaha! Amy rocks her outfits too and thank goodness Maggie was there to capture it all – evidence, EVIDENCE! This is a great thing you guys are doing for these shops, and I’m happy to read about their own contributions to the community. Great post – again.

    1. Thank you, Melanie! Sadly, I walked away from everything I tried on that day. But if I’m good, maybe I’ll get a gift certificate for Christmas and can go back and get that red dress and embroidered jacket. I still think about them.

I absolutely love consignment and thrift shopping—I feel like a smart consumer that way…

    1. “Smart consumer”–I like that as a description for someone who shops consignment and thrift. I think it also applies to anyone who shops local small businesses because they’re pouring their money back into the local economy which is a win-win for everyone!

Oh–and you would have loved this place! Next time you’re in town….

      Hugs,
      Sherry
