Walking History at the University of Washington

The weather rolled out the warm sunshine today, just in time for Hubby and I to visit the University of Washington for a walking tour with the Seattle Architecture Foundation. Our knowledgeable guide led us through campus and buildings and more than a century of architecture history, all right there, just a stone’s throw from where we live. 🏛

What I Wore

Since this is a fashion blog, I have to share what I wore for this tour, right? So, here it is–nothing fancy, but it does show that warmer temps have arrived since I’m wearing sneakers without socks, cropped jeans, and my favorite Portland-made top. The hoodie was added at the last minute, just in case it got chilly–and I’m glad I took it! The winds occasionally reminded us summer is still yet to come.

Sherry Dryja, Petite Over 40, ready for a walking tour of architecture at the University of Washington wearing sneakers, a locally made top, and thrifted jeans and hoodie.

The jeans and hoodie are thrifted: jeans from TheRealReal and hoodie from eBay. The top I’ve shared here many times before. It’s from Portland designer, Sarah Bibb of Folly. And the shoes are New Balance 1400v6 Running Shoes.

  1. Sometimes, the most beautiful and unexpected things are found at one’s doorstep. How stunning is that library! And isn’t it great to be able to go sock-less? We are back to square weather-wise, so that would have been a definite no-no today! xxx

    1. So true, Ann! We’ve been making a concerted effort to uncover as many local gems as we can. And that library!! I had seen photos of the inside but had never gone in myself. It is BEAUTIFUL! One day, when I am really brave, I will venture a photo shoot there. I’m not there yet…. hee hee.

I hope the weather shifts in your favor soon, Ann, so you can play in daisies and explore charity shops and discover hidden stork nests–all without socks! ☀️🌸💕

      Hugs,
      Sherry

Wow! That library is amazing!! Also, it’s fun that seeing Mount Rainer is always a special moment. I know that it’s shrouded in clouds much of the time.

    1. Yes, it is always a special day when Mount Rainier makes an appearance. Even in that photo that I shared, she was slightly veiled by the hazy sky. We learned on our tour that that corridor where we stood was chosen precisely because it looked out toward Mount Rainier. We had wondered this many times before and now we know!!

Sending hugs your way, my lovely friend! I hope you are well!
